In the Spring of 2022 Conservative Media outlets including Fox News, Ben Shapiro, Info Wars and others all launched a simultaneous and coordinated campaign of fear-mongering and misinformation about the transgender community. Initially, this was targeted at transgender athletes in women's sports and "drag queens." This campaign took root and grew quickly, expanding from school board meetings, to statehouses and all the way to Executive Orders.
The legislative and executive actions inspired by this campaign has aimed at an ever widening target with policies that have shed the mask of pragmatism and plunged into absolute cruelty.
Much of the sucess of this campaign with the average voter is due to the pervasive disinformation being spread by the loudest mouthpieces of the social conservative movement. They claim that Transgender identity is invalid. They claim that Gender Affirming care is ineffective and dangerous, They claim that there are high rates of regret, and they claim that Gender Affriming care is dangerous to children. All of these assertations are wrong.
The following references show the truth about Transgender Identities and Gender affirming care. The data is divided by topic. Please feel free to share this page or reuse any of this content.
A number of "Junk Science" Sources have sprung up in recent years with the purpose of legitimizing anti-trans legal action. The SPLC did a great job outlining that effort.
